Job Summary:
The Telemetry Registered Nurse Oncology Acute Tele in Phoenix, Arizona, is responsible for providing expert nursing care within a specialized oncology and telemetry unit. This role involves interpreting EKGs, managing vents such as Bipap and Cpap, and delivering patient-centered care for oncology and medical-surgical patients. Candidates are required to bring their license on the first day of assignment.
Job Details:
- Location: Phoenix, Arizona
- Specialty: Telemetry
- Shift: 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM, 12-hour days, with minimum of 36 hours per week
- Certifications: Current BLS (Basic Life Support) and ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support); chemo certification a plus
- Required Qualifications: Valid license; minimum of 2 years of relevant experience; willingness to wait for license submission; ability to interpret EKGs; experience with vents such as Bipap and Cpap; must pass DYS exam prior to acceptance (2 attempts allowed, failure results in dismissal for 6 months); candidates must have their own vehicle; natural hair color and no facial piercings; men must clean shave for fit test
- Preferred Qualifications: Chemo certification
- Schedule: 12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM; at least 1 weekend per month; rotation into holidays; staff will work into a rotation
- Additional Information:
- Float to other MedSurg/Tele units possible
- Unit specific orientation: 2 days on the floor
- Common patient population includes 85% oncology patients and 15% tele med-surg patients, which includes surgical, medical, and oncology cases
- Ratios: 1:4
- EMR: Cerner
- Charge nurse: Yes, light patient assignment, oncology resource RN
- Nurse Aides: Two PCTs on day and night shifts
- Scrub color: Navy
- Hospitalist or Intensivist not in house
- RT and pharmacy available 24/7
- Cancellation policy allows up to 4 shifts canceled per 13-week assignment or 3 shifts for shorter assignments
- Travel teams must have their own vehicles; pass/fail SIMs Lab for sterile field, lifts, restraints, and wound care required before start; candidate must demonstrate competence in sterile procedures and patient care skills
