Description
Job Summary:
The Operating Room Registered Nurse (RN) position is based in Madison, Wisconsin. This role involves providing specialized nursing care within a multispecialty surgical environment. Candidates are expected to have at least two years of recent acute care experience in the relevant specialty. The position requires candidates to bring their nursing license on the first day of assignment.
Job Details:
- Qualifications: Must possess a Wisconsin RN or compact RN license. Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association (AHA) is required. Candidates must have two years of recent acute care experience within the last three years in the specialty they are submitting to.
- Certifications: BLS (American Heart Association).
- Schedule: Day and Evening shifts, rotating between 8 and 10 hours, Monday through Friday. Typical hours may include 06:40-15:10, 09:10-17:40, or 06:40-17:10, with a minimum of 40 hours per week.
- Experience: Two years of acute care experience within the last three years in the surgical specialty.
- Nursing Skills and Procedures: Experience with a wide range of surgical procedures, including hysterectomies, appendectomies, chest and abdominal surgeries, orthopedics, ENT, ophthalmology, urology, and more. Ability to circulate and scrub in the operating room is preferred.
- Charting System Experience: Required with Epic experience preferred.
- Supervision and Floating: Travelers are expected to float as needed.
- Additional Requirements: Successful pass of a telemetry exam with criteria including 100% identification of lethal rhythms and no incorrect answers regarding third-degree heart blocks. Two attempts are allowed to pass the exam.
- Vaccinations: Flu vaccine required; COVID-19 vaccine not required.
