Description

Job Summary:
The Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Registered Nurse (RN) position is located in Louisville, Kentucky. This role involves providing care within a high acuity, mixed patient population, including stroke and neuro-related diagnoses. Candidates are required to bring their nursing license on the first day. The position offers night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM, with the ability to clock in at 6:53 AM, and requires a minimum of 36 hours per week.

Job Details:

  • Schedule: Nights, 12-hour shifts, minimum of 36 hours per week.
  • Required Qualifications: Current nursing license, NIHSS certification, Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, 2 years of nursing experience required, 3 years preferred.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Experience in neuro assessments, phlebotomy, EKG rhythm analysis, and managing stable high flow and Bipap ventilations.
  • Float: Float to mixed acuity only.
  • Additional Information:
    • 2-3 discharges per day, average stay of 6-10 days.
    • Staffing includes 1 RN per 4-6 patients based on acuity, 2 CNAs each shift, and 1 clerical staff during the day.
    • Nursing staff may be responsible for lab collections; phlebotomy staffing is dependent.
    • Support teams available include vascular access, sepsis and rapid response teams, shift coordinators, RT, hospitalist, specialists, and intensivists available 24/7.
    • Department utilizes Cerner electronic medical record system, and equipment includes Cerner IV pumps, monitors, and other unit-specific devices.
    • Orientation includes 24 hours (3 days) with 1 shift at the end of week one and 1 at the start of week two.
    • The unit culture is high acuity with new leadership, emphasizing neuro and stroke patient care.
    • Scrub color is galaxy blue, with free onsite parking provided.
    • No on-call requirement; weekend rotation every other weekend; scheduled days are based on facility's preferences.
