Job Summary:
This Pediatric Floor Registered Nurse position is based in San Francisco, California, at a designated healthcare facility. The role involves providing inpatient nursing care within the Pediatric Heart Center, managing pediatric preoperative, perioperative, and critical care patients. Candidates are required to bring their California Registered Nurse (RN) license on the first day.
Job Details:
- Address: San Francisco, CA
- Shift: 12-hour shifts, days and evenings (variable start times at 06:00, 07:00, 08:00, 09:00, 10:00, or 06:30, 08:00, 09:00, 10:00), with a schedule of 36 hours per week.
- Required Qualifications: CA Registered Nurse (RN) license; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN); American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS); Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS); Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS); Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN); Pediatric Nurse Certification (CPAN or CAPA); minimum 2 years of recent pediatric preoperative/postoperative and pediatric critical care experience; recent pediatric critical care experience in pediatric pre-op/Pacu settings.
- Preferred Qualifications: Additional pediatric certifications such as CCRN, CPAN, or CAPA.
- Patient Population: Adolescents, infants, adults, pediatrics.
- Patient Ratios: 2 patients per nurse during nights and weekends.
- Unit Features: Specialized Pediatric Heart Center caring for high-acuity cardiac patients, including electro-physical (EP) and catheterization procedures.
- Additional Unit Details: Familiarity with tracheostomy and home ventilators; Veinfinder preferred.
- Special Equipment: Tracheostomy care, home vents equipment.
- Shift Details: 8-hour shifts starting at 06:00, 07:00, 08:00, 09:00, or 10:00 or 12-hour shifts starting at 06:30, 08:00, 09:00, or 10:00. Typical hours are 36-40 per week, with shift combinations including three 12s, three 8s and one 12, or five 8s.
- Floating: Float rotation may be required within a 75+ mile radius to different units or facilities as needed.
- Required Certifications: CA RN license, BLS, ACLS, PALS, CCRN, CPAN or CAPA.
- Additional Requirements: Must provide two recent references, complete all required modules prior to start, and adhere to vaccination requirements, including COVID-19 vaccination with booster unless exempted for medical or religious reasons.
- Start Date: 08/18/2026.
- RTO (Request for Time Off): All RTO must be disclosed at submission and approved by the manager; requests cannot be made during the first two weeks of the contract.
- Travel and Teaching Modules: Allowed but generally not on the same unit as travel partners; modules vary by unit and include non-billable pre-start and annual training.
