Job Summary
Emergency Room nurse in Bakersfield, California this position involves providing high-quality care in a fast-paced ER environment at a primary stroke center. Candidates are required to bring their license on the first day.

Job Details

  • Schedule: Rotating shifts with mids from 11:00 AM to 11:30 PM, 36 hours per week
  • Required Qualifications: Certifications include Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and National Institute of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS); a minimum of 3 years of experience; valid license to submit; location in California
  • Preferred Qualifications: Experience working in Emergency Rooms and with Cerner electronic medical records system
  • Float: Float rotation may be required between two facilities to the ER. If floated before a shift, staff will receive a 2-hour notice; mid-shift floating can also occur.
  • Additional Information:
    • Charge Nurse, Shift Manager, and Resource Nurse roles available
    • Nurse Aides and Emergency Technician (ED Techs) are EMTs or aides from other units
    • Telecommunication: Philips Ventilators available
    • In-house hospitalist or intensivist present, MD's used exclusively in ER
    • RT and Pharmacy available 24/7, with Omnicell system in use
    • Self-scheduling for shifts, pending managerial balancing
    • Required to work 4 weekend shifts within a 4-week schedule, covering Fridays and Saturdays for night shifts, Saturdays and Sundays for day shifts
    • Floor-specific orientation: two shifts at primary campus and one at secondary campus
    • Patient volume can range from 115 to 175 patients per day
    • The facility is a designated Primary Stroke Center and occasionally handles MedSurg Telehold patients
    • Will not adjust hours to accommodate other work schedules and must demonstrate strong teamwork
