Description
Job Summary:
The ICU Cardiovascular Nursing position is based in a hospital setting within the facility. The role involves providing specialized care to patients with complex cardiovascular conditions including sepsis, STEMI, stroke, neurosurgery, renal failure, respiratory failure, and other critical diagnoses. This position requires highly motivated nurses capable of critically thinking through complex situations and embracing a diverse patient population. Candidates must be willing to learn, ask questions, and provide the highest quality patient care in a fast-paced environment.
Job Details:
- Schedule: 12-hour night shifts, with shifts from 6:30 PM to 7:00 AM and 6:30 PM to 7:00 AM, minimum of 36 hours per week.
- Required Qualifications: Active licensure, BLS (Basic Life Support), ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support), NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) certifications; minimum of 1 year of current ICU experience; location in Nebraska; valid driver's license; successful completion of a pass/fail skills exam during orientation with a 90% passing score; ability to perform bedside shift reports and hourly rounding.
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience with electronic ICU systems, remote monitoring, and complex ventilator management.
- Additional Information:
- Units use EPIC charting system.
- Nurse to patient ratio of 1:2 with occasional 1:1 for specialized procedures.
- Equipment includes vents, Cpap, BiPap, high flow oxygen, etc.
- RNs may troubleshoot nasal cannula to ventilator issues.
- Charge nurses on each shift who take assignments.
- Nursing staff supported by nurse aides/patient care techs with a ratio of 1:10.
- Floating mainly to Progressive Care Unit (PCU) and other hospital areas depending on abilities.
- Dress code: Navy Blue scrubs.
- Orientation includes 2 unit-specific shifts.
- Emphasis on bedside reporting, hourly rounding, and delivering culturally sensitive care to a diverse community.
- RTO (Request for Time Off) must be submitted upfront for 7 days or less within the 13-week contract.
