Description
Job Summary:
The organization is seeking a Telemetry (TELE) Registered Nurse for a position providing care in the neuro telemetry unit located in Phoenix, Arizona. The role involves managing trached patients, stroke, trauma, spinal surgery, and other neurological related conditions. The RN will be responsible for interpreting EKGs, titrating drips such as heparin, amio, cardizem, and insulin, and performing bedside reports in a fast-paced, high-turnover environment.
Job Details:
- Schedule: 12-hour days shifts, with a minimum of 36 hours per week.
- Required Qualifications: Valid license to submit, ACLS and BLS certifications, minimum of 2 years of nursing experience, neuro experience highly preferred.
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience with trached patients, CVA, TBI, spinal surgery, encephalopathy, ESRD, psych issues, brain tumor.
- Float: Float to tele units, tele overflow in ICU, and floor-specific orientation includes 2 days on the floor.
- Additional Information:
- Must pass their dysrhythmia exam prior to acceptance, with two attempts allowed.
- Simulations for Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes are required, with exception for specific units.
- Candidates must be able to titrate drips, including Amio, Cardizem, and Insulin.
- Typical length of stay for patients is 45 days; the unit is fast-paced with high turnover.
- Bedside report is standard.
- The hospital can cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment.
- No hospitalist or intensivist in-house; RT and pharmacy services available 24/7.
- Must be able to interpret EKGs.
- No vents required.
- Common diagnoses include stroke, TBI, spinal conditions, and encephalopathy.
