Description
Job Summary:
Labor and Delivery Nurse position located in Dickson, Tennessee. This role involves providing comprehensive obstetric and neonatal care within a Level II Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and Women's Services Department. The successful candidate will support the unit's focus on labor, delivery, postpartum, and neonatal care, working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
Job Details:
- Schedule: Days shifts, 12 hours per shift, minimum of 48 hours per week.
- Required Qualifications: Must have zero or more years of experience in labor and delivery, including the ability to labor and recover the mother as well as receive and transition the newborn, with assessment skills. Experience with shoulder dystocia, postpartum hemorrhage, and other obstetric emergencies is preferred. Certifications required include BLS, NRP, and Fetal Monitoring training.
- Preferred Qualifications: Fetal monitoring education, experience with inductions (Pitocin, cervidil).
- Certifications: BLS, NRP, Fetal Monitoring training.
- Unit Specifics: The unit has a total of 9 LDRP beds, 1 OBED bed, and 4 NICU beds. Patient ratios include 1:1 for active labors and newborns until stable, 1:3 for inductions and C-sections, and NICU intermediate care with 2 NICU nurses present at all times. The unit utilizes Meditech and CPN documentation systems. Regular staff may float within the facility as needed.
- Staffing and Equipment: No techs or unit secretaries; equipment includes CPN central monitoring, IV pumps, infant warmers, telemedicine robots for neonatologists, bili-blankets, PCA pumps.
- Procedures performed: C-sections, circumcisions, intra-uterine monitoring, vacuum or forceps-assisted deliveries.
- Dress Code: Pink and/or brown scrubs per infant security policy.
- Hospital Standards: The facility maintains Joint Commission accreditation, is a Stroke Center, Level II Trauma, and Level II NICU.
- Additional Information: The unit features highly experienced nursing staff, including six registered nurses with approximately 30 years of experience each, offering a strong mentoring environment. The team functions well together, providing excellent support for new staff and opportunities to gain diverse obstetric and neonatal experience.
