Description
Job Summary:
The Medical Surgical Floor nursing position is located in Louisville, Kentucky. This role involves providing care to patients with a variety of medical conditions, primarily focusing on trauma, stroke, and neurological cases. The unit is equipped to handle high acuity cases requiring advanced skills in ventilator management, wound care, and intravenous therapies. The position offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic, accepting environment with a dedicated team.
Job Details:
- Schedule: Nights shift, 12 hours per shift, minimum of 36 hours per week, with a rotating weekend schedule every third week, and some holidays expected to be worked.
- Required Qualifications: Valid nursing license, BLS certification, NIHSS certification, and a minimum of 1 year of recent experience in a high acuity rehab or medical surgical setting.
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience with Trach care, ventilator management, biPAPs, CPAPs, IV therapy, PICC lines, central lines, wound care, bowel management, TPN, drains/tubes, and pulmonary care involving trachs and laryngectomies.
- Float: Float rotation may be required within scope of practice; all staff are evenly floated, primarily using a float pool.
- Orientation: Monday online facility orientation, Tuesday in-person NVCI (Nonviolent Crisis Intervention) training, Wednesday in-person unit orientation, with the rest of the week scheduled accordingly.
- Additional Information: The unit maintains a culture of acceptance and accountability, with staff held to the same standards as permanent employees. Scrub color is Galaxy Blue. Free parking with badge access is available.
