Description
Job Summary:
Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Registered Nurse (RN) position in Nebraska. The role involves providing specialized care for adult patients with various critical conditions, including trauma, cardiac issues, overdose/substance abuse, sepsis, post-stent, pacemaker placement, stroke, vascular cases, renal failure, heart failure, and respiratory distress. The RN will be responsible for titrating cardiac drips and monitoring patient statuses in a fast-paced acute care environment.
Job Details:
- Location: Nebraska
- Schedule: Nights (12-hour shifts) from 6:30 PM to 6:30 AM, with a minimum of 48 hours per week
- Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS; minimum experience of 2 years in ICU or acute care setting
- Optional Schedule: Self-scheduling available for core staff; travelers added in. Block scheduling not guaranteed, and requests for specific time off (RTO) must be made upfront for 7 or fewer days per 13-week contract; additional RTO requests will not be approved.
- Patient Ratios: 1:2-3 for adults, with the possibility of float to PCU or Med-Surg units at a ratio of 1:4 or 1:5 as needed
- Patient Care: Managing adult critically ill patients with complex medical needs; titration of cardiac drugs, insulin, sedation, and troubleshooting of vent equipment (e.g., nasal cannula, vent support)
- Monitoring: Reading and documenting strips with GE monitors; oversight by tele tech, requiring interpretation skills
- Additional Duties: Assist nurse aides and healthcare support technicians based on census, and participate in orienting new staff with one initial shift of unit-specific training
- Shift & Operational Notes: On call updates and transport will require response within 30 minutes; artificial nails are prohibited in patient care areas; pass/fail exams during orientation with a requirement of 90% to pass.
- Cancellations: Facility can cancel up to four shifts per 13-week assignment or three shifts for shorter assignments.
- Licensing: Valid licensure to submit required.
