Job Summary:
Medical Surgical Floor Nurse - Location unspecified. This position involves providing patient care in a Medical Surgical unit with a focus on orthopedic, spine surgery, and general medical-surgical patient populations. The role requires flexibility to float across multiple campuses and work scheduled days. The assignment duration is from September 8, 2026, to December 8, 2026, with scheduled shifts of 12 hours and a minimum of 36 hours per week.

Job Details:

• Schedule: 12-hour shifts, minimum of 36 hours per week.
• Required Qualifications: 24 months of current Medical Surgical (Med Surg) or Medical Surgical/Telemetry experience in a hospital or medical center setting, with post-operative surgical experience in orthopedic, spine surgery, or general medical-surgical areas. Must have heparin experience, EPIC electronic medical record (EMR) experience, an active Iowa or multistate license, and BLS certification from the American Heart Association or ARC/Red Cross. Candidates must have a drivers license.
• Preferred Qualifications: None specified.
• Float: Float rotation may be required to work across all campuses, including Iowa Methodist and Iowa Lutheran.
• Additional Information:

  • Orientation scheduled for 09/08/2026 and 09/14/2026.
  • Holiday work may be required, with 1-2 of 3 upcoming summer holidays (Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day) expected to be worked unless the unit is closed.
  • 16 hours of new hire orientation (NBO).
  • Call back multiplier of 1.5x with a two-hour minimum.
  • On-call pay of $9/hour, precept pay of $6/hour.
  • Billable overtime applies after 40 hours/week; overtime billable after 48 hours/week.
  • The position is open to first-time travelers with at least 12 months of Med Surg experience.
  • Rapid start required for candidate interviews.
