Job Summary
Operating Room Pediatrics Only (OR PEDS) Madison, WI. This role involves providing specialized pediatric surgical care within a busy healthcare facility. The position requires experienced nurses with pediatric operation room expertise, including trauma, ambulatory, and transplant procedures, supporting patient-centered surgical interventions.
Job Details
- Certification: BLS (American Heart Association required), PALS*
- Education Requirements: RN license in Wisconsin or a Compact RN license
- Years of Experience: 2 years of recent acute care experience in pediatric or operating room settings within the last 3 years
- Location Requirements: No specific geographic restrictions beyond local rules
- Schedule: Days, 10-hour shifts, Monday - Friday, with a minimum of 40 hours per week
- Required Qualifications: RN license (Wisconsin or Compact), Pediatric OR experience, trauma experience, BLS certification, and minimum two years acute care experience in pediatric or operating room environments
- Preferred Qualifications: Pediatric trauma experience, transplant experience, and familiarity with epic charting system
- Additional Information:
- On-Call Requirement: One weekend every 6-8 weeks, one weeknight per week (Monday-Thursday), holiday coverage as needed
- Travel Experience: Not specified
- Critical Skills: Assistance during anesthesia induction, handling of pediatric surgical procedures such as appendectomy, cleft lip/palate repair, craniotomy, organ donation, and advanced pediatric surgical techniques
- Patient Age Groups: Neonates to adolescents
- Interdisciplinary Support: Respiratory services and pharmacy support
- Certification Testing: Mandatory pass in telemetry interpretation exam with up to three attempts, including scoring criteria for adult and pediatric rhythms
