Description

Job Summary
Operating Room (OR) Open Heart Nurse in an academic medical center. This role involves providing specialized perioperative nursing care to patients undergoing cardiovascular and other surgical procedures. The position requires experienced cardiac OR nurses who thrive in a high-competency, fast-paced environment.

Job Details

  • Schedule: Dayshift, 12-hour shifts, minimum of 36 hours per week. Work week spans Monday to Sunday, with bi-weekly orientations on Mondays.
  • Required Qualifications: Valid RN license; minimum of 2 years of recent Operating Room (OR) Registered Nurse (RN) experience with high competency in Cardio Vascular / Open Heart (OR); Epic EMR experience within the past 2 years; BLS certification; scrub hearts experience; experience in large, academic, teaching hospital environments; general experience; prior travel experience; SCRUB HEARTS certification.
  • Preferred Qualifications: CNOR certification.
  • Additional Information: The role may involve float to other OR suites such as General, Orthopedics, Neuro, ENT, etc., where nurses circulate rather than scrub. Candidates must have reliable transportation, as public transportation is unavailable. Vehicles should be equipped with all-season or snow tires during November through April. The position involves working a Monday to Sunday workweek with no block schedules. Prior to starting, bi-weekly orientation sessions are held, and all employment gaps over 90 days must be explained.
  • Submission Requirements: All work history information including bed count, EMR system, facility type, etc., must be thoroughly documented for submission.
