Description
Job Summary:
Medical Surgical Float Nurse specializing in adult general medical and surgical patient care, in a facility setting. The position involves providing nursing assessments, care planning, and implementation for a diverse patient population with conditions such as chronic illnesses, infections, neurological disorders, and mental health issues. This role requires floating between different medical units and participating in supplemental hospital orientation and Epic charting.
Job Details:
- Schedule: 12-hour shifts, 3 weekend shifts in 4 weeks, with a minimum of 36 hours per week.
- Required Qualifications: IN State or compact Registered Nurse (RN) license, at least 1.5 years of Level 1, Level 2, or tertiary experience, at least 1 year of experience at a facility with 450+ beds, BLS certification through the American Heart Association, and minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience using Epic electronic record system, knowledge of hospital equipment including pyxis machines, Accucheck blood glucose, Hospira IV pumps, and telemetry monitoring.
- Additional Information: Candidates must be willing to float to adult medical units only. The position involves working in an acute care setting with patient ratios typically around 1:5-6, managing procedures such as wound care, IV therapy, and medication drips. Training includes one day of general hospital orientation followed by approximately 5 days of departmental nursing orientation, including Epic system training.
