Job Summary:
Medical Surgical Oncology Floor Registered Nurse (RN) position is located in an acute care environment. The role involves providing specialized care to patients with various types of cancer, including lymphoma, leukemia, hematology, radiation oncology, and gynecologic oncology. This position requires experience with intravenous chemotherapy and immunotherapy administration, monitoring for medication side effects, and managing patient care in a fast-paced oncology setting.

Job Details:

• Schedule: 12-hour night shifts beginning at 1900, with a minimum of 36 hours per week. The schedule varies depending on unit needs and may involve a mix of contract days and nights or nights only. The schedule is completed in a 6-week timeframe and includes self-scheduling with coordination from the designated scheduler.
• Required Qualifications: Illinois license or confirmation that the application process has been initiated, BLS certification (AHA), ONS/ONCC Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Certificate, active license to submit, and at least 1 year of relevant experience.
• Preferred Qualifications: Experience with IV chemotherapy and immunotherapy medications, familiarity with EPIC Beacon EMR documentation, and ability to manage Bipap and Cpap equipment troubleshooting.
• Responsibilities include administering IV chemotherapy and immunotherapy, managing patient care with a nurse-to-patient ratio of approximately 1:5 on nights, and collaborating with charge nurses and patient care technicians.
• Department utilizes telemetry monitors (Phillips), but RNs are not required to interpret strips.
• Float rotation may be required, involving a period of at least 4 hours, with a focus on general medicine level care.
• Additional notes: The orientation period is 24-36 hours. Personal protective equipment (PPE) and safety precautions for chemotherapy and immunotherapy are essential.
