Description

Job Summary:
Medical Surgical Floor (MS) in an acute care setting located in a hospital or health system. This 12-hour night shift position involves providing direct patient care to a diverse adult patient population with typical medical and post-operative diagnoses. The role includes supporting a team-based approach to patient care, adhering to hospital policies, and maintaining compliance with required certifications and clinical standards.

Job Details:

Schedule: 12-Hour Night Shifts: 0645-1915 and 1845-0715. Schedules are made out for 6 weeks at a time, with staff allowed to submit up to 6 requests off per 6-week period.
Required Qualifications: Valid licensure with the organization, Certifications in BLS (American Heart Association) and NIHSS, minimum of 2 years of relevant experience, willingness to wait for license submission, and a candidate's unexpired driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience with peritoneal dialysis and post-operative recovery for orthopedic, neuro, and general surgical patients.
Additional Information: The unit is a 52-bed MedSurg unit with all private rooms, caring for patients with diagnoses including COPD, pneumonia, infections, and post-surgical cases. Staff may float to other MedSurg or MedSurg/Oncology units, and experience with electronic medical records using Allscripts is preferred. The unit includes specialized teams such as IV, RT, pharmacy, and hospitalist/Intensivist coverage 24/7.
Holidays: Work is scheduled into the holiday rotation.
Floats: Float rotation may be required to MedSurg and related units.
Certifications: BLS (AHA) and NIHSS are required.
Start Date: 10/05/2026
End Date: 01/04/2027
