Job Summary:
Pediatric Critical Care Nurse specializing in Open Heart (PICU OH) opportunity available in a Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center located in a busy tertiary care facility. The role involves caring for high-acuity patients aged 0-18 years who have undergone congenital heart surgeries, transplant management, and utilize advanced cardiac support devices. The position requires adaptability to float between unit areas and collaborative team engagement for optimal patient outcomes.

Job Details:

• Schedule: Night shift, 12 hours per shift, minimum of 36 hours per week.
• Required Qualifications: Valid licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN), at least 2 years of Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (ICU) experience in a similar high-acuity facility, BLS, PALS, NIHSS certifications, experience with fresh open heart post-operative patients, transplant experience, and proficiency with devices such as Aquadex, Impella, ECMO, and EPIC electronic medical record system.
• Preferred Qualifications: Experience with central venous access devices, renal replacement therapies, and ability to float within pediatric ICU settings.
• Float: Float rotation to Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), and General Pediatric units may be required based on operational needs.
• Additional Information: The unit is a 20-bed open Heart ICU with mirrored sides and centralized nursing station, serving a patient population with complex congenital and acquired cardiac conditions. Support staff includes a CNA/Nurse Assistant, unit secretary, resource nurse, respiratory therapist, cardiologist, and intensivist, all available 24/7. Technology includes EPIC EMR, Phillips monitors, Alaris infusion pumps, and Omnicell medication dispensing. Orientation is provided over 2 days with departmental orientation included.
