Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Pediatric Cardiovascular ICU position requiring 2+ years of pediatric cardiac ICU experience and NC or compact RN licensure.

Details

• Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center and teaching hospital with 247 licensed beds
• 20-bed Pediatric Cardiovascular ICU split into two mirrored sides with a centralized nurses station
• Cares for high-acuity pediatric patients ages 0-18 with congenital heart differences post-surgery, pre/post-transplant, s/p cath lab, VAD, ECMO, Impella, dialysis, and Aquadex therapy
• RN to patient ratios vary by acuity: 2:1, 1:1, or 1:2
• No dedicated CNA support; 1 health care tech per day assists with unit secretary duties and nursing support
• 12-hour night shifts, 1900-0700, 36 hours per week on a 6-week schedule cycle
• Weekend rotation every other weekend or fewer as needed (Fri/Sat/Sun)
• Floating required to PICU, NICU, and General Peds as needed
• Charge nurse and resource nurse free-floating for support
• 24/7 in-house RT, cardiologist, and intensivist coverage
• Uses EPIC EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Phillips monitors

Requirements

• Active NC or compact RN license required
• Current BLS, PALS, and NIHSS certifications
• Minimum 2 years of Pediatric Cardiac ICU experience in a similarly high-acuity facility required
• Experience with fresh open heart post-op and transplant patients required
• Experience with Aquadex (renal replacement therapy), Impella, and ECMO required
• EPIC EMR experience required
• Competency or willingness to float to PICU
• Last 4 digits of SSN and full DOB required for consideration
• At least 1 professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN

• Holiday coverage expectation is 75% of holidays, with the unit standard being every other holiday

• Previous permanent employees must be separated from any AHSE facility for at least 1 year before returning as a traveler
