Job Summary
The ORT (Surgical Technician/Operating Room Technician) in the Specialty ORT is based in the surgical department. This role supports the surgical team by preparing instrumentation, assisting during procedures, and ensuring aseptic techniques are maintained. The position involves handling complex surgical cases and working closely with surgeons to ensure optimal patient care.

Job Details

  • Qualifications: Completion of an accredited program recognized by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting or a formal surgical program (e.g., military service). Must have current American Heart Association Certification for Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers. Certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST) from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting or Tech in Surgery - Certified (TS-C) from the National Center for Competency Testing is required.
  • Responsibilities: Provide surgical support to physicians and patients during procedures, anticipate surgeon needs, handle specimens and medications according to departmental policies, and maintain aseptic technique. Assist with equipment sterilization, surgical counts, and preparation of surgical fields. Monitor equipment functionality and ensure all supplies and instruments are available and in proper working order. Support patient safety, including restraint of uncooperative patients when necessary.
  • Schedule: Rotating shifts, 10 hours per shift, with at least 40 hours per week, starting on 10/26/2026 and ending on 01/23/2027.
  • Additional Information: Knowledge of normal/abnormal anatomy and physiology, ability to work independently, and leadership skills are essential. The role requires critical thinking, effective communication, and the ability to provide appropriate patient care considering individual needs.
