Job Summary
Postpartum Floor Nurse (L&D PP) Night Shift Location: unspecified. This role involves providing care in a maternity unit specializing in postpartum patients and newborns. The position is integral to supporting patients through labor, delivery, and postpartum recovery while ensuring compliance with clinical guidelines and safety standards.
Job Details
- Position Description: Provides patient care within a postpartum unit encompassing postpartum vaginal, cesarean, and newborn care. Ensures adherence to AWHONN guidelines for staffing ratios.
- Required Qualifications: BLS (American Heart Association), Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP); minimum of 2 years of experience in postpartum or labor and delivery nursing; valid license; ability to work night shifts, 12-hour shifts, 36 hours per week, starting on 11/02/2026 and ending on 02/01/2027.
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience with Epic electronic charting system; competency in monitoring electronic fetal monitoring systems; ability to float within Zone 1; ability to take call (18 hours every 6 weeks).
- Additional Information: The unit includes 22 postpartum beds, 2 C-section suites, 7 triage beds, and 34 postpartum beds. Staff members must follow AWHONN guidelines for patient ratios. Night shifts include a charge nurse who does not take patients. OB/Neonatologist and NNP are available 24/7; anesthesia services are in-house. No telemonitor techs; RNs read their own strips. The unit uses Epic for EFM systems. Orientation requires one shift; hospital can cancel up to 4 shifts per 13 weeks. Certification requirements include BLS and NRP. The position involves a call requirement and some flexibility to float within Zone 1 if needed.
