ICU Nurse - Intensive Care Unit - Puyallup, WA
Located in Puyallup, this role involves providing specialized patient care within a Level III Trauma Centers Intensive Care Unit. The position entails working night shifts in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, focusing on critically ill patients with complex needs.

Job Details

  • Position Description: ICU Nurse capable of clinical interviewing and providing expert care for patients with critical conditions.
  • Required Qualifications: Valid Nursing license, ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support), BLS (Basic Life Support), and NIHSS (National Institute of Health Stroke Scale) certifications. No specific experience required, but the role is suited for those with a background in ICU settings.
  • Schedule: Night shift, 12-hour shifts, 36 hours per week.
  • Additional Information: Unit handles various high-acuity cases including respiratory failure, sepsis, post-operative patients, and COVID-19 Overflows. The role involves patient transportation throughout the facility, requiring flexibility and resourcefulness. Support staff includes techs, hospitalists, and intensivists available 24/7.
  • Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS are required.
  • Skills: Cardiac rhythm interpretation, ventilator management, invasive line management, trachs, chest tubes, lumbar drains, IV med titration.
  • Support within Department: Techs support the unit, with a nurse-to-patient ratio of approximately 1:2 in ICU, 1:4 in PCU, and 1:5 in medical-surgical settings.
  • Technology/Equipment: EMR system (EPIC), IV pumps (Alaris), Pyxis medication dispensing.
  • Orientation: 2 days of hospital orientation plus 1 day on the assigned unit.
