Job Summary
The Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Float Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for providing expert nursing care in a critical care setting. This role involves assessing, planning, delegating, and evaluating patient care while supporting the organizations standards and policies. The RN will also contribute to professional development and uphold their commitment to patient-centered care within a fast-paced environment.
Job Details
- Schedule: Days shift, 12 hours per shift, minimum of 48 hours per week
- Required Qualifications: Current New York State Registered Nurse License; BLS Certification (AHA, HSI, or American Red Cross); Critical Care experience (please submit CC checklist); six months to three years of nursing experience
- Preferred Qualifications: Previous clinical nursing experience in an acute care or ambulatory setting; CCRN; relevant skills certification (e.g., ACLS, PALS, TNCC) as required by the home unit assigned
- Responsibilities:
- Assess, plan, delegate, coordinate, implement, and evaluate nursing care for patients in the ICU level of care
- Educate patients and families in health promotion and disease management
- Safely administer medications in accordance with hospital policies
- Share responsibility for productivity, resource utilization, and staffing efficiency
- Comply with all nursing practice standards, regulatory requirements, and organizational policies
- Support professional and organizational development initiatives
- Engage in continuing education and evidence-based practice integration
- Provide a supportive environment for new employees and students
- Perform duties related to Charge Nurse or Shift Coordinator roles when assigned
- Participate in the Clinical Ladder Program as expertise develops
- Perform other duties as assigned
