Key Responsibilities
- Conduct initial and ongoing patient assessments, develop and implement individualized plans of care, and evaluate treatment effectiveness in collaboration with the interdisciplinary care team.
- Clinically manage high-acuity stepdown patients including those with multi-system organ failure, respiratory compromise, renal conditions, surgical needs, and trauma.
- Administer medications and drips including Cardizem and Amiodarone safely and in accordance with state practice standards and facility policies.
- Manage and monitor patients requiring advanced airway support including mechanical ventilators, tracheostomies, BiPAP, CPAP, High Flow, and Airvo.
- Serve as point of contact for care coordination across hospital departments and act as a patient safety advocate through participation in ongoing quality improvement.
- Anticipate and respond to rapidly changing patient conditions, applying clinical judgment and evidence-based practice to prioritize patient-focused care.
Required Qualifications
- Current RN license in the state of practice or covered under a Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC).
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification from an approved source required prior to direct patient care.
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification required.
- NIH Stroke Certification required.
- Dysrhythmia Exam required prior to or upon start (study guide available).
- Minimum 1 year of RN experience with strong higher-acuity background; ventilator experience and insulin drip management required.
Preferred Experience / Skills
- CCRN (Critical Care Registered Nurse) or PCCN (Progressive Care Certified Nurse) certification preferred.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
- Experience with EPIC Electronic Health Record (EHR) system preferred.
- Completion of a Critical Care Course preferred.
