Contract | Days | 12-Hour Shifts (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM) | Onsite

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a 24-bed Cardiac Telemetry unit with a 1:3–4 nurse-to-patient ratio depending on acuity.
• Monitor and interpret EKG rhythms using Philips telemetry monitors; manage patients on non-titrating drips.
• Care for a diverse cardiac stepdown patient population including chest pain, MI, pre-transplant, esophagectomy, ER overflow, and detox; travelers do not take transplant patients.
• Perform and maintain competency in sterile procedures including Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes as assessed through a SIMs Lab evaluation.
• Utilize Cerner EMR for documentation; bedside PCs are available in each room.
• Float as needed to other telemetry units including T5, T6, and Neuro Telemetry during high-census situations.

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license with current BLS and ACLS certifications.
• Level 1 Trauma experience required.
• Must successfully pass a dysrhythmia exam prior to acceptance (two attempts allowed).
• Proficiency in EKG interpretation and cardiac telemetry monitoring.
• Demonstrated competency in sterile field technique; must pass SIMs Lab skills assessment (pass/fail) covering Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes.
• Must have reliable personal vehicle for travel to assigned campus locations.

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Prior experience with Cerner EMR.
• Familiarity with high-flow oxygen and CPAP management.
• Experience caring for cardiac stepdown patients including pre-transplant and post-surgical populations.
