Registered Nurse – CVICU

Contract | Nights (4x12 Hours, 19:00–07:30) | Onsite | 36 or 48 hour weekly options available

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver specialized nursing care to high-acuity cardiovascular patients in a 20-bed intensive care unit, including stable heart and lung transplant patients, ventricular assist device patients, and ECMO patients
  • Manage and titrate drips as required across all assigned floors
  • Document patient care accurately using EPIC electronic health records
  • Float within scope of practice to meet facility staffing needs, including potential float to additional campus locations and units such as neurology, trauma, observation, and medical-surgical floors
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary care teams including CNAs, care techs, transport teams, and paramedics
  • Adhere to all facility policies including a 100% nicotine-free environment requirement

Required Qualifications

  • Active or pending Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in Nebraska (pending license accepted; if not in hand at time of submission, start date will be booked six weeks out)
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience in a large, urban hospital setting
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
  • Proficiency with EPIC charting required
  • Willingness and ability to float frequently to various units to meet staffing needs
  • Candidate must reside more than 100 miles from the facility (local candidates not accepted)

Preferred Experience / Skills

  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred
  • Experience at a Level I Academic Medical Center (required for first-time travelers to be considered)
  • Prior experience caring for ECMO, ventricular assist device, or transplant patients
