Registered Nurse – Child & Adolescent Psychiatric Unit
Location
New York, NY
Schedule / Job Type
Contract | Rotating Shifts (Days, Evenings, Nights) | 36–48 hours per week | Includes weekends, holidays, and on-call per unit need
Key Responsibilities
- Provide safe, effective, and therapeutic nursing care to pediatric psychiatric patients ages 5–18 experiencing acute mental health crises
- Support patient stabilization through participation in structured group programming, including Activities Therapy, Mindfulness, Wellness, and Coping Skills groups
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized patient care plans and meet established patient goals
- Assist with psychopharmacological interventions as part of a comprehensive treatment approach
- Monitor and assess patient behavioral and mental health status, responding appropriately to changes in condition
Required Qualifications
- Active New York State Registered Nurse (RN) License
- Minimum of 2 years of pediatric mental health nursing experience
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) only
Preferred Experience / Skills
- CPI certification with current blue card
- Prior experience in a large, academic medical center setting
