Registered Nurse (RN) – Medical Surgical

Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care on a 22-bed private-room Medical Surgical unit with a 1:4–5 nurse-to-patient ratio, caring for post-op, sepsis, pneumonia, COPD, diabetes, and infectious disease patients
- Titrate Heparin drips as indicated; no cardiac drips are utilized on this unit
- Float to other Medical Surgical and Telemetry units within the facility as needed; travelers are first to float
- Complete SIMs Lab competency assessments including Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes prior to unit deployment
- Collaborate with Respiratory Therapy, a resource RN, and a 24/7 House Supervisor to deliver safe, coordinated patient care
- Self-schedule 4 weeks in advance, including 3 weekend days (Saturday/Sunday) per pay period and participation in holiday rotation
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license with current, recent Medical Surgical experience
- Level 1 Trauma experience required
- BLS certification required
- Must pass a Dysrhythmia (DYS) exam prior to contract acceptance (2 attempts allowed)
- Must demonstrate competency in sterile field technique, including Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes
- Must have own reliable transportation (personal vehicle required)
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Charge nurse experience preferred
- Telemetry experience preferred, given potential to float to Telemetry units
- Experience reading and interpreting cardiac monitor strips is a plus
