Registered Nurse (RN) – Medical Surgical Float
Location
Bismarck, ND

Contract | Nights | 12-Hour Shifts | Onsite
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care for a mixed medical-surgical population including surgical patients (total joints, fractures, bariatric, urology, general) and medical patients (CHF, CVA, shortness of breath, diabetic conditions)
- Manage a patient assignment of up to 1:6 on night shift within a 61-bed combined unit
- Monitor telemetry in collaboration with a monitor technician, confirming rhythm strip readings as needed
- Operate and manage respiratory equipment including CPAP, BiPAP, and high-flow oxygen devices
- Float to other units as required per departmental needs
- Participate in on-call and standby requirements as assigned per LCD guidelines
Required Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) licensure
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Prior medical-surgical nursing experience consistent with the patient population and acuity described
- Ability to confirm telemetry rhythm strips (monitor tech reads, RN confirms)
- Willingness to float to additional units as needed
- Availability to work every other weekend and every other holiday
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience working in a float pool or multi-unit environment
- Familiarity with post-surgical patient care including total joints, bariatric, and urology patients
- Comfort with CPAP, BiPAP, and high-flow oxygen equipment
