Registered Nurse (RN) – Medical Surgical (Nights)

Contract | Night Shift | Onsite
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care on a 24-bed Medical Surgical unit serving as the facility's stroke unit, with a night shift patient ratio of 1:6
- Safely administer medications including heparin, cardizem, and amiodarone as ordered
- Care for patients with neurological conditions, including stroke patients, utilizing NIH Stroke Scale assessment skills
- Float between Medical Surgical and Stepdown units as needed
- Document patient care accurately and thoroughly using EPIC EMR
- Participate in required holiday coverage during designated summer holidays
Required Qualifications
- Active Iowa RN license (verified through Nursys or State of Iowa)
- Minimum of 12 months of Medical Surgical experience required; minimum of 18 months of total hospital or medical center nursing experience required
- 24 months of current Med Surg, Medical Surgical, Oncology, or Neurology experience reflected in work history
- Demonstrated experience administering heparin, cardizem, and amiodarone
- Experience caring for neurology patients
- Active BLS certification through AHA or ARC
- Valid driver's license
- Med Surg, Oncology, or Neurology-specific skills checklist
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience caring for oncology patients
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification (may be obtained during onboarding)
- EPIC EMR experience
- Professional reference from a charge nurse, supervisor, nurse manager, director, CNO, or COO within the past 24 months
