Contract (13 weeks, with possible extension) | Nights, 4x12-hour shifts (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM) | Every other weekend required | Onsite

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a high-volume Medical Surgical / Telemetry unit managing a patient ratio of 1:5 to 1:7, including complex medicine, orthopedic overflow, and long-term care patients
• Monitor telemetry on the unit and participate in Rapid Response and Code Team activations as needed
• Perform and manage central line care, PICC line management, peripheral IV insertion and care, phlebotomy, and heparin protocol administration
• Provide care for patients requiring tracheostomy management, wound care and wound vac, surgical drains, feeding tube care, and blood product administration
• Manage patients on various oxygen delivery systems including High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC), nasal cannula, face masks, and portable oxygen
• Serve in a charge nurse capacity and float to other units as required

Required Qualifications

• Active, unencumbered New York State RN license — must be in hand at time of submission, no exceptions
• Minimum of 1 year of Medical Surgical / Telemetry RN experience
• Charge nurse experience required
• Proficiency with EPIC electronic health records — hard requirement
• Active BLS and NIHSS certifications required — valid NIHSS must be included at time of submission
• Experience with a 1:6 patient ratio; ability to manage 1:5 to 1:7 ratios on a MedSurg unit

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience with pacemaker management (temporary and permanent), orthopedic trauma, and total joint replacement patients
• Familiarity with isolation precautions and complex long-term patient care in a tertiary care hospital setting
• First-time travelers accepted provided all experience and patient ratio requirements are met
