Key Responsibilities
- Prepares patients for diagnostic procedures, explains scans, and positions patients to capture appropriate images using CT equipment to produce cross-sectional images of bones, organs, and tissue.
- Performs diagnostic radiographic, fluoroscopic, and C-arm exams in the department and with portable equipment, including a variety of examinations, reconstructions, and printing protocols as directed by the Radiologist.
- Administers IV contrast media as needed and completes all required paperwork and requisitions for ordered exams in a timely manner.
- Identifies mechanical and electronic equipment failures to accurately diagnose problems with radiographic machines and processors.
- Properly moves and transports patients to and from the department, orders necessary supplies, and maintains par levels.
- Collaborates with floor staff to facilitate excellent patient care and attends required in-services and orientations.
Required Qualifications
- Active CT Technologist certification or licensure as required by state and applicable credentialing bodies.
- ARRT certification in Radiography and/or Computed Tomography (CT).
- Demonstrated ability to inject IV contrast media.
- Ability to perform on-call duties as required.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain procedures to patients and address questions related to equipment and processes.
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience performing a wide range of CT reconstructions and varied printing protocols.
- Familiarity with portable radiographic equipment and fluoroscopic C-arm operation.
- Experience working collaboratively with multidisciplinary clinical teams in a fast-paced environment.
