Registered Nurse – Cardiac Stepdown
Location
Stockbridge, GA
Schedule / Job Type
Contract | Days | 3x12-Hour Shifts (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM) | Onsite
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care for an adult to geriatric population on a Cardiac Stepdown/Overflow IMCU unit with a 1:5–6 patient ratio across a 32-bed unit
- Manage and titrate continuous IV cardiac drips including Amiodarone, Cardizem, Dobutamine, Dopamine, Milrinone, and Nitroglycerin, as well as diuretics, anticoagulants, and insulin drips
- Monitor and manage cardiac arrhythmias including stable A-Fib, SVT, and Bradycardia; assist with cardioversion as needed
- Care for patients presenting with CHF, chest pain, renal conditions, pulmonary conditions (COPD, pulmonary edema), PE, DVT, DKA, and post-cardiac cath including TR Band management
- Support surgical patients (cholecystectomy, appendectomy, chest tubes, biliary drains) and occasional vascular, orthopedic, or CVA overflow patients pending transfer to appropriate units
- Utilize facility systems including Epic (preferred), Pyxis, and SBAR communication framework; float within facility and scope of practice as needed
Required Qualifications
- Active RN licensure in Georgia or a Compact state required at time of submission
- Minimum of 1 year of Cardiac Stepdown or related RN experience; first-time travel nurses are not accepted for this role
- Prior travel nursing experience required
- Demonstrated proficiency managing all listed continuous IV drips: cardiac drips (Amiodarone, Cardizem, Dobutamine, Dopamine, Milrinone, Nitroglycerin), diuretics (Bumex, Lasix), anticoagulants (Aggrastat, Argatroban, Heparin), and insulin drips
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Basic arrhythmia knowledge and experience with arrhythmia management required
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience with Epic EMR strongly preferred
- Familiarity with Med/Surg scope of practice in addition to cardiac stepdown competencies
- Experience with TR Band management and post-cardiac catheterization care
