Registered Nurse – Emergency Room
Location
Towson, MD
Schedule / Job Type
Contract | Nights | 3x12-Hour Shifts (19:00–07:30) | Every Other Weekend | 10-Week Assignment
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care in a fast-paced Emergency Room setting serving a patient population ranging from pediatric to geriatric
- Manage a patient ratio of 1:4 across a 40-bed unit with an average daily census of 30
- Assess and treat patients presenting with respiratory conditions, cardiac events (including MI, STEMI, Non-STEMI), chest pain, stroke, and surgical cases
- Deliver care to psychiatric patients within the ED, which may include up to 6 psychiatric patients at a given time
- Respond to trauma cases including MVAs and fractures in coordination with regional trauma resources
- Float within scope to other units as needed; travelers are expected to float first
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license in Maryland or a valid Compact license at time of submission
- Minimum 2 years of Emergency Room nursing experience required
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications (American Heart Association only)
- Current PALS certification (American Heart Association only)
- NIH Stroke Scale certification required
- CPI certification required (online version must be through the approved vendor: Calm Every Storm)
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience caring for psychiatric patients in an emergency department setting
- Familiarity with stroke center protocols and TPA administration
