Travel Registered Nurse – ICU (Intensive Care Unit)

Contract | 13-Week Travel Assignment | Night Shift (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM) | 36 Hours per Week | Every Other Weekend Required

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in a critical care unit serving adult and geriatric populations, including CCU, CVICU, and critical care step-down settings
• Manage critical care drips and titrations, ventilator management, arterial lines, chest tubes, and central venous lines including large-volume vas catheters
• Perform and interpret ECG rhythm strips, lab values, and ABGs; initiate IV access and blood draws, and place NG tubes
• Operate and monitor advanced equipment including bedside monitoring systems, IV pumps, CRRT machines, intra-aortic balloon pumps, and ventilators
• Assist physicians with bedside procedures and conscious sedation; communicate effectively with patients, families, and the care team via mobile communication platforms
• Float as needed to CVICU, critical care step-down, and medical-surgical departments when critical care areas are fully staffed

Required Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
• Minimum of 5 years of ICU/critical care nursing experience
• Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Proficiency in critical care skills including ventilator management, arterial lines, chest tubes, central venous lines, and critical care drip titration
• Completion of required online learning modules including moderate sedation/analgesia, iStat, and glucometer certifications
• Strong time management skills with the ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Prior experience in a teaching hospital environment working alongside resident physicians
• Advanced ICU skills including CRRT management, intra-aortic balloon pump management, and arterial sheath pulls
• Previous experience in SICU, MICU, CVICU, Neuro ICU, or PCU/medical-surgical settings
• Familiarity with Meditech EHR and SpaceLabs bedside monitoring systems
