Registered Nurse – Oncology (Transplant Coordinator)

Winston-Salem, NC
Schedule / Job Type
Contract | Days | Full-Time | Onsite | Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM | 8-Hour Shifts | No Call, No Float, No Weekend Requirements
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a caseload of patients with hematologic malignancies through all phases of peripheral blood transplant and cellular therapy, from candidate identification through workup, cell harvest, and infusion
- Coordinate all pre- and post-transplant care needs, including scheduling and tracking required testing and appointments according to established timelines
- Conduct clinical assessments including interpretation of lab results, diagnostic tests, vital signs, weight, fluid balance, and graft function monitoring
- Collaborate with transplant physicians and interdisciplinary team members through regular meetings and ongoing case communication
- Provide patient and family education on transplant processes, medication adherence, post-operative care plans, and lifestyle adjustments
- Maintain compliance with transplant center protocols, HIPAA/patient confidentiality standards, waitlist criteria, and universal precautions
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license (NC or Compact)
- Minimum 3 years of RN experience required
- Hematology/Oncology experience required
- Navigator or Case Manager experience required
- Experience in both acute hospital and outpatient clinic settings required
- Pre-transplant evaluation and assessment skills required; BLS certification required
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Familiarity with organ-specific diseases (e.g., ESRD, cirrhosis, heart failure) and ability to identify and manage transplant complications such as infection and rejection
- Experience with post-transplant medication management, including pharmacology relevant to transplant patients and coordination of medication adjustments with providers
- Chemotherapy certification (ONS/ONCC preferred)
- Experience with regulatory and administrative compliance including tracking patient outcomes and reporting per regulatory standards
