Job Title

Registered Nurse – Cardiac Stepdown (Advanced Heart Care)

Bowling Green, KY

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | 13 Weeks | Nights (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM) | 3x12 or 4x12 shifts available | Every other weekend required | Must be available to work 2 of 3 holidays

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care in a Cardiac Stepdown / Advanced Heart Care unit with a blended acuity patient population at a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4–6
  • Perform and document stroke assessments using established tools such as BE-FAST and NIHSS protocols
  • Conduct bedside dysphagia screenings and maintain competency documentation
  • Apply current stroke guidelines and performance measures for Acute Ischemic and Hemorrhagic strokes
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary care teams to deliver evidence-based cardiac and neurological nursing care

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Kentucky RN license or Compact RN license – must be in hand at time of submission
  • ACLS certification required – must be in hand (AHA only accepted)
  • NIHSS certification required – must be current and obtained within 2 years of start date
  • BLS certification required (AHA only accepted)
  • Minimum 1 year of experience working in a certified stroke center or stroke unit
  • Prior travel nursing experience required – first-time travelers will not be considered

Preferred Experience / Skills

  • Experience with Meditech EMR strongly preferred
  • Familiarity with bedside dysphagia screening competency documentation
  • Background working with current stroke performance measures and Acute Ischemic and Hemorrhagic stroke guidelines
