Registered Nurse – ICU (Neuro)

Schedule / Job Type
Contract (13 Weeks) | Nights | 3x12-Hour Shifts (19:00–07:30) | Every Other Weekend Required | Holidays as Scheduled | Onsite
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care to critically ill adult and geriatric patients with complex neurological conditions including acute ischemic stroke, intracerebral hemorrhage, subarachnoid hemorrhage, traumatic brain injury, status epilepticus, and post-craniotomy care
- Operate and monitor specialized ICU equipment including ICP monitors, external ventricular drains (EVDs), continuous EEG, mechanical ventilators, arterial lines, and central venous catheters
- Maintain patient ratios of 1:2, with the possibility of up to 1:3 for stable, lower-acuity patients
- Float within the specialty to lower-acuity areas as needed; on-call may be required
- Participate in holiday and weekend scheduling as assigned
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license in Maryland or a valid Compact License at time of submission
- Minimum 2 years of Neuro ICU experience (first-time travelers with strong Neuro ICU background will be considered)
- Current BLS certification (AHA only)
- Current ACLS certification (AHA only)
- Candidate must reside 50+ miles from the facility (locals under 50 miles are not accepted unless explicitly stated)
Preferred Experience / Skills
- CPI certification (Calm Every Storm online version is the only acceptable online vendor)
- NIHSS certification
- Experience with targeted temperature management, bedside ultrasound, and continuous EEG monitoring
