Travel RN – PACU (Post-Anesthesia Care Unit)

Key Responsibilities

• Provide routine and complex post-anesthesia nursing care utilizing the full nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation for assigned patients.
• Administer medications and treatments per appropriate protocol; monitor for side effects and effectiveness of prescribed treatments.
• Address complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families in accordance with scope of practice.
• Document patient history, symptoms, medications administered, and care provided accurately and thoroughly.
• Assess patient and family learning needs; provide education and identify appropriate resources.
• Make appropriate assignments and delegate to other care providers as needed to effectively manage the clinical situation.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of PACU or related nursing specialty experience required.
• Active RN license in the state of Texas or a valid compact state license.
• Current BLS certification required (American Heart Association only).
• Current ACLS certification required (American Heart Association only).
• Current PALS certification required (American Heart Association only).
• Ability to care for a diverse patient population including general, orthopedic, urology, ENT, cath lab, endoscopy, GYN, and pediatric patients (no neuro or cardiac cases).

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Critical Care and/or Pre-Op nursing experience highly preferred.
• Experience with EPIC electronic health records system strongly preferred.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
• Prior experience in a perioperative setting or completion of a Perioperative RN Residency preferred.
