Travel RN – Cardiovascular Progressive Care (CVPC / Stepdown)

Contract | Travel | Days | 13-Week Assignment | Full-Time | Onsite | Shift: 6:45 AM – 7:15 PM | Weekend requirement: minimum 6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule period; holiday flexibility required

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a 40-bed cardiac surgery stepdown unit serving a primary population of CV surgery and vascular surgery patients, including open heart surgery, thoracic lung surgery, esophagogastrectomy, AAA repair, fem-pop bypass, and carotid endarterectomy
• Manage overflow medical cardiology patients presenting with heart failure, DKA, chest pain, sepsis, heart block, and related diagnoses
• Perform and oversee epidural management, chest tube management, tube feedings, and IV Glucommander protocols
• Administer and monitor cardiac drip management including phenylephrine, dobutamine, dopamine, milrinone, cardizem, amiodarone, insulin, heparin, nitroglycerin, and ketamine
• Operate unit equipment including Baxter IV pumps and CADD epidural pumps; document care using Cerner EMR
• Float as needed to stepdown units (1:5 ratio), medical-surgical units (1:6–7 ratio), or ER inpatient holding area (1:6 ratio)

Required Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience
• Stepdown experience required
• Telemetry experience required
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Prior experience within the past year with CV surgery and vascular surgery patient populations, including open heart surgery, TAVR, lobectomy, AAA repair, and fem-pop bypass
• CVICU experience
