Job Title

Registered Nurse – Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU)

Location

Duluth, GA | Acute Care

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Days | Shift varies, approximately 10:30 AM – 11:00 PM

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide post-anesthesia nursing care to patients recovering from surgical and procedural interventions
  • Monitor and assess patient vital signs, airway status, and level of consciousness in the immediate post-operative period
  • Administer medications and interventions as ordered, responding promptly to changes in patient condition
  • Document patient care accurately and efficiently using Cerner electronic health records
  • Collaborate with anesthesia providers, surgeons, and interdisciplinary team members to ensure safe patient transitions
  • Adhere to holiday coverage requirements, including working 2 of 3 major holidays (Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, or New Year's Day) and 1 minor holiday (Friday after Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, or New Year's Eve)

Required Qualifications

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
  • Minimum of 2 years of recent PACU experience
  • AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification required
  • Proficiency with Cerner electronic health records
  • Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible

Preferred Experience / Skills

  • Experience in a high-volume or acute care surgical setting
  • Strong critical thinking and rapid assessment skills in a fast-paced post-operative environment
  • Familiarity with a wide range of surgical specialties and anesthesia recovery protocols
