Registered Nurse – Medical-Surgical (Ortho/Neuro/Trauma)

Contract (13 Weeks) | 12-Hour Night Shifts (6:30 PM – 7:00 AM) | 36 Guaranteed Hours per Week (48-Hour Option Available Upon Request) | Onsite
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care in an Ortho/Neuro/Trauma unit serving a 44-bed inpatient population including trauma, orthopedic (hip/femur fractures), and neurological (spine, neck, back, rib fractures) cases
- Perform strong neuro assessments, log rolling, and application of assistive devices such as back braces and immobilizers
- Perform Tele/12-lead EKG interpretation and PIV insertion as core clinical duties
- Float within skillset to sister campuses as needed, with a minimum of 2 hours notice provided for cross-campus floats
- Document and chart using EPIC (checkoff class required upon start)
- May be required to precept nursing students and new hires, as this is a teaching facility
Required Qualifications
- Active Compact RN License (required at time of submittal)
- AHA BLS Certification (required at time of submittal)
- NIHSS Certification (required at time of submittal)
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience, including at least 1 full year in ortho, neuro, or trauma
- Minimum 1 prior travel assignment completed
- Trauma Level II experience required
- Recent EPIC charting experience required
- Must live at least 40 miles from the facility to be eligible
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Experience with chest tube and indwelling drain management, drips (heparin, Lasix, Protonix), and epidural management
- Familiarity with PEGs/NGs, Buck's traction, pin site care, On-Q management, and wound care including wound vacs and packing
- Experience with CIWA protocols and behavioral health patients
- Step-down experience (required for travelers who must pass a tele competency test)
