Schedule / Job Type

Contract (13 Weeks) | Full-Time | Days, 12-Hour Shifts (6:30 AM – 7:00 PM) | 36 Guaranteed Hours per Week (48-Hour Contracts Available Upon Request) | Three weekends per six-week schedule; every other holiday

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care to complex Medical/Surgical/Telemetry patients including post cardiac catheterization with interventions, CVA/TIA, ICD, complex abdominal surgeries, oncology, and post-craniotomy (POD 2)
• Perform NIHSS assessments and dysphagia screenings, along with strong neurological assessments
• Interpret telemetry and 12-lead EKGs; travelers are required to pass telemetry competency tests
• Initiate and titrate drips including insulin, cardiac, and heparin infusions; perform heart cath recovery (femoral and TR bands)
• Float within skillset to sister campuses as needed, with a minimum of 2 hours notice given for cross-campus float assignments
• May be required to precept nursing students and new hires in this teaching environment

Required Qualifications

• Active, current Compact RN License
• AHA BLS Certification (must be attached upon submittal)
• NIHSS Certification (must be attached upon submittal)
• Minimum of two years of recent, strong Telemetry/Medical-Surgical experience
• At least one prior travel assignment completed
• Trauma Level II experience required
• Recent Epic EMR experience required (checkoff class will be required upon start)
• Must reside at least 40 miles from the facility to be eligible

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience with NG/PEG tube management
• Peripheral IV insertion skills
• Tikosyn dosing experience
• Chest tube management experience
