Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a 30-bed Intermediate Care Unit serving patients with chest pain, rule-out MI, CHF, arrhythmias, post-pacer placements, pre/post cardiac catheterizations, and Tikosyn therapy management
• Manage and titrate vasoactive and cardiac drips including Amiodarone, Cardizem, Dopamine, Dobutamine, Labetalol, Nitroglycerin, Heparin, and occasionally Lasix
• Independently read and interpret cardiac telemetry strips using Nihon Kohden monitoring system; Tele Techs are available but RN interpretation is required
• Perform radial band management and removal, groin checks, and intermediate-acuity overflow patient care; sheaths are not pulled by RN staff
• Document and manage patient care using the Sunrise EMR system with Pyxis pharmacy support
• Float as needed to Telemetry or Med-Surg units with ratios up to 1:6 (occasionally 1:7 in Med-Surg)

Required Qualifications

• Active, unencumbered RN license; any licensing hits must be disclosed at time of submission
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
• Ability to independently read and interpret cardiac telemetry strips
• Experience titrating cardiac and vasoactive drips in an intermediate or step-down care setting
• Submission must include a copy of candidate's unexpired driver's license
• Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Prior experience in an IMC, PCU, or Step-Down unit with similar patient populations (cardiac, CHF, arrhythmias)
• Familiarity with Sunrise EMR and Pyxis medication dispensing systems
• Experience managing patients on Tikosyn therapy and post-cardiac catheterization care
• Comfort working with respiratory support equipment in coordination with Respiratory Therapy (AirVo high-flow, Respironics BiPAP)
