Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in an 8-bed ICU setting with a 1:2 nurse-to-patient ratio (may adjust to 1:3 based on acuity or overflow/stepdown patients)
• Manage complex diagnoses including sepsis, ARDS, acute renal failure, cardiac dysrhythmias, post-operative complex care, overdose, and behavioral health medical complexities
• Perform and maintain central line care, arterial line management, and assist with bedside bronchoscopy
• Titrate drips including cardizem, propofol, amiodarone, norepinephrine, and precedex per protocol
• Apply AHA cardiac arrest guidelines and respond to critical events in collaboration with on-site hospitalists, nocturnists, and respiratory therapy available 24/7
• Float as needed to Medical Surgical units at additional campus locations

Required Qualifications

• Active Illinois RN license (or confirmation that the application process has been initiated)
• ACLS certification required
• Proficiency with central line care, arterial lines, and titratable drip management
• Familiarity with respiratory therapy equipment including ventilators, BiPAP, CPAP, and heated high-flow
• Must comply with a drug-free campus policy and produce a negative drug screen for all panels
• Candidates with a permanent address within 50 miles of the facility may be subject to a local pay rate

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Prior ICU experience managing high-acuity diagnoses such as ARDS, sepsis, and complex post-operative patients
• Experience with bedside bronchoscopy assistance
• Familiarity with cardiac dysrhythmia management and cardiac arrest response
