Contract | Night Shift | Shifts: 6:30 AM–7:00 PM / 6:30 PM–7:00 AM | Cyclic self-scheduling | Weekend requirement: at minimum every 3rd weekend | Holiday requirement: at minimum 2 holidays per contract
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care on a 35-bed inpatient rehabilitation unit serving adult and geriatric populations with diagnoses including stroke, spinal cord injury, amputation, brain injury, critical illness, and neurological conditions such as MS and Parkinson's disease
- Maintain nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:6 on night shift, with nurse aide/patient care tech support at a 1:10–1:15 ratio
- Administer and monitor set-rate and titratable drips including antibiotics, anticoagulation, and antiplatelet medications (drip titration not required)
- Collaborate with charge nurses, care techs, and interdisciplinary team members to deliver patient-centered care
- Float to MedSurg as needed based on unit demands
- Successfully complete a required open-book skills exam during orientation with a minimum passing score of 90%
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license (Registered Nurse)
- Current BLS certification required
- Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible
- Candidates may not be currently employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) at any facility associated with CommonSpirit Health, including CHI or Dignity Health
- Valid driver's license required at time of submittal (used to verify radius compliance)
- Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care departments; compliance is required for contract continuation
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Prior experience in inpatient rehabilitation or a related acute care setting
- Familiarity with neurological, stroke, or post-surgical patient populations
- Strong organizational and communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment
- Innovative problem-solving skills and demonstrated compassion in patient care delivery
