Contract | Night Shift | 3x12-Hour Shifts (6:45 PM – 7:15 AM) | Expected 36 hours/week
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care on a cardiac telemetry unit managing diagnoses including Atrial Fibrillation, CHF, ACS, CAD, valvular conditions, cardiomyopathy, and peripheral vascular disease
- Monitor and manage patients post-procedure, including post-cath, post-DCCV, post-electrophysiology procedures, and pacemaker placements
- Operate and interpret specialized equipment including EKG, arterial lines, femoral sheaths, TR band, Fem-stop, chest tubes, Doppler, bladder scanner, and epicardial pacing wires
- Document using EPIC, communicate via SBAR, and manage medications through Pyxis
- Float to other units as needed and provide weekend coverage (expected 4 weekend shifts per 4-week period)
- Be prepared to participate in Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team assignments; contract staff may be required to report during catastrophic events, mass casualty incidents, or disasters
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license – NC state license or Compact license accepted (pending licensure acceptable for submission)
- BLS certification required
- ACLS certification required
- Minimum 2 years of cardiac nursing experience required
- Must be willing to work holidays (expected 2 of 3 major holidays)
- Must pass EKG testing prior to start
- Local candidates within 50 miles of the facility are accepted; a local pay rate applies
Preferred Experience / Skills
- NIHSS certification preferred
- Experience in Med/Surg, Telemetry, or Step-Down units preferred
- Familiarity with CABG, TAVR, Mitral Clip, LAAO (Watchman), carotid endarterectomy, and other cardiac or vascular surgical procedures
- First-time travelers welcome provided minimum cardiac experience requirement is met
