Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care in an ED Observation unit with a 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio, managing common presentations including abdominal pain, chest pain, fever, dyspnea, headache, and extremity pain
- Administer and monitor common drips including cardiac, antihypertensive, antiarrhythmic, sedation, and analgesia agents
- Operate and troubleshoot respiratory equipment including ventilators, CPAP, BiPAP, and high-flow oxygen systems in collaboration with Respiratory Therapy
- Perform and/or assist with lab draws as needed alongside phlebotomy staff
- Maintain compliance with weekend scheduling requirements, with an expected minimum of six weekend shifts per six-week schedule
- Float within Zone 1 as determined by nurse manager based on unit staffing needs
Required Qualifications
- Active RN licensure in the state of Colorado (or compact eligibility)
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC, ENPC, NRP, and NIHSS
- Must reside at least 60 miles from the facility to be eligible; valid driver's license must be submitted
- Must be available and present in-state for the full week of orientation, even if initial modules are conducted remotely
- Willingness to wear navy blue scrubs per dress code requirements
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Prior experience in an ED or ED Observation setting
- Familiarity with psychiatric/seclusion room protocols and working alongside in-house security
- Experience working with respiratory therapy equipment and interpreting patient monitoring data
