Description
Unit Specifics:
· Number of Beds : 9 labor rooms, 6 triage rooms, 3 AP rooms, 3 ORs
· Patient Ratios : 1:1-2 laboring, 1:2-3 AP, 1:1 c/s and PACU
· Unit staffing description- OB tech always in staffing for scrubbing c/s and assisting with vaginal deliveries, 1 dedicated charge nurse to assist with triage and transport (baby nurse), 1 unit secretary 0700-2300
· Type of equipment :
· Documentation system: Meditech and Centricity
· Scheduling requirements: 3 shifts/week, if working during the winter holidays must work 1-2 days or eves
· Floating policy: possible to float to Mother Baby but not frequently. Will not float to any other department

Requested Skill Set:
Must have: 2+ years of L&D experience, preferably 1 or more travel contracts completed
Advanced skills needed: NRP, ACLS, BLS, AWHONN intermediate fetal monitoring
Procedures performed on unit: cervical exams, IUPC and FSE placement, vaginal deliveries, IV starts with lab draws, circulating cesarean sections, recovering cesarean sections (usually with spinal anesthesia but general anesthesia occasionally),
Certifications Required: AWHONN intermediate fetal heart monitoring, NRP, ACLS, BLS
Dress Code: (Required uniform)
· Black, grey or pink scrubs. Solid colors only, no patterns. No sweatshirts or t-shirts.

· We are a community hospital with a monthly birth volume of 200+ deliveries. Our facility is experiencing significant growth, with the addition of new practices and healthcare providers. We collaborate with Diana Health, a laborist program that ensures 24-hour coverage by both an MD and a CNM. Additionally, we have dedicated anesthesia providers 24 hours a day.

· We are proud to be the first hospital in Chattanooga to offer nitrous oxide therapy for pain management, alongside epidural analgesia.

· Recently, we completed extensive renovations of our labor and delivery and mother-baby units, including the addition of six new, state-of-the-art mother-baby rooms.

· Our team utilizes advanced tools such as the Jada, fetal pillow, and Cook's catheters. Most of our nursing staff have completed Spinning Babies or Supporting Vaginal Birth classes to enhance patient care and outcomes.
