Location: Asheville, North Carolina

Unit: J4 – Neuro Surgical ICU

Shift: 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM

Unit Overview

• Beds: 12
• Patient Ratio: 1:2
• Support Staff:
  • RN‑led unit
  • Additional support varies by shift
• Equipment: Baxter pumps
• Documentation System: Cerner
• Scheduling:
  • Self‑scheduling with unit‑based needs
  • Six weekend shifts per schedule period
• Floating:
  • Travelers float first
  • May float to other ICUs or step‑down units
• Preferred Experience: Neurology‑focused ICU experience

Required Certifications

• ACLS
• BLS
• NIHSS

Requested Skill Set

• Strong ICU clinical background
• Excellent critical‑thinking and assessment skills
• Ability to manage high‑acuity neurological patients
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities

Must‑Have Qualifications

• ACLS and BLS
• Prior ICU experience

Advanced Skills

• Care of post‑thrombectomy and tPA patients
• Management of post‑neurosurgical patients

Common Procedures

• Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT)
• Bedside External Ventricular Drain (EVD) management
• Arterial line monitoring
