Registered Nurse (RN) – Oncology/Women’s Surgical
Location: Asheville, NC
Unit: K9A – Oncology/Women’s Surgical
Shift: 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM
Schedule: Six weekend days per schedule; rare call requirements
About the Unit
24‑bed Oncology and Women’s Surgical unit providing specialized care to post‑operative and oncology patients. The team is collaborative, supportive, and focused on delivering high‑quality, compassionate care.
Staffing
- Total Staff: 42
- Day Shift: 1 CNC, 4–6 RNs, 2 CNAs, 1 HUC
- Night Shift: 1 CNC, 4–6 RNs, 2 CNAs
- Patient Ratios: 1:4 or 1:5
Equipment & Systems
- Standard med‑surg unit equipment
- EMR: Cerner
About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse to join the Oncology/Women’s Surgical team. This role involves caring for a diverse patient population, supporting surgical recovery, and providing oncology‑focused care in a fast‑paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care for oncology and women’s surgical patients
- Support occasional pelvic exams
- Assist with procedures such as echocardiograms and thoracentesis
- Collaborate with CNAs, HUCs, and interdisciplinary teams
- Document care accurately in Cerner
- Maintain a safe, supportive environment for patients and families
Required Qualifications
- Active RN or CNA license (role‑dependent)
- BLS certification
Preferred Qualifications
- Chemotherapy certification
- Experience in oncology or women’s surgical care
Floating Requirements
- May float to other med‑surg units (rare)
